Check Out Chloé’s Fall 2017 Bags, the Brand’s Last from Designer Clare Waight Keller
BY AMANDA MULL
There’s little indication of what designer Clare Waight Keller will do now that she’s departed from Chloé after six years, but wherever her next stop is, it’s not hard to imagine that the brand will miss her. Over the better part of a decade, Waight Keller refined the Chloé look into luxe bohemian heaven, and in the process, she made some damn good handbags.
Waight Keller’s last runway included only a handful of bag designs, and these pieces represented a more structured, tailored approach to accessories that has gradually taken hold during her tenure. These bags–several petite shapes rendered in tonal, neutral suede and leather combinations–all featured similar curved, golden metal handles. The look is more directional and less consumer-oriented than the Drews and Hudsons that have won over so many shoppers in recent years, but it’s fitting that Waight Keller would go out on an interesting, forward-looking note.
